St. Louis soccer fans rejoice - you'll get a chance to see a storied rivalry right here in the city.
The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that Manchester City and Chelsea of the English Premier League will play an exhibition match at Busch Stadium on May 23, with kick-off at 7:30 p.m. There will be a practice the day before open to those holding all-inclusive tickets.
We know the question, unquestionably, in many Cardinals fans' heads right now is something like this:
"What? Number FIVE? We're number one!"
Well, Cardinals pride aside, the Redbirds' home turf has been rated as the number 5 best ballpark in America by TripAdvisor.
The site lists Busch between Fenway Park in Boston and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The number one spot for major league baseball in the country? PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
The $100 million project would be built on the north side of Busch Stadium and would contain space for retail stores, restaurants, an open-air event space with a retractable roof, and a St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum. Team President Bill DeWitt III says the project got sidetracked by the economic crisis that hit the country four years ago.
