Democrat Jay Hoffman has changed his mind about running for Congress and now plans to seek a seat in the Illinois House.
Democratic Party officials on Thursday endorsed Huffman's run for the seat held until recently by Tom Holbrook. Holbrook announced plans to step down from the Illinois House after Gov. Pat Quinn picked him to head the Illinois Pollution Control Board.
Brunner, a former Marine, describes himself on his Twitter profile and Facebook page as "a true constitutional conservative running to cut spending, balance the budget, and restore the American Dream." He has a long track record of donating to Republican and conservative causes. But he's never run for public office - which he says makes him the most qualified person to serve.

Albert Pujols hit a go-ahead single in the seventh to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies last night. John Jay added two RBIs for the Cardinals, who evened the National League division series matchup at one game apiece. St. Louis will send Jamie Garcia to the mound tomorrow in game 3.
Brunner expected to announce U.S. Senate candidacy
Missouri Democratic Party Chairwoman Susan Montee says she plans to run for lieutenant governor next year.
Montee said Friday she has been trying to recruit strong Democratic candidates for offices and believes she has the best chance of winning the lieutenant governor's office being vacated by Republican Peter Kinder.
Kinder has said he will not seek re-election and is instead considering a run for governor.
Montee served as state auditor for four years before losing re-election last year to Republican Tom Schweich.
