Twenty years ago, the flood of 1993 changed lives up and down the Mississippi and Missouri rivers.

Fifty-five thousand homes and 33,000 businesses were destroyed. Fifty people were killed. Damages totaled in the billions.

But in the midst of the devastation, there were moments of joy, too.

For two former soldiers in the Missouri National Guard, the flood of 1993 marked the start of their lives, together.

Festus postmaster gets 2-year term for scheme

The postmaster of the suburban St. Louis town of Festus has been sentenced to two years in prison for her role in a scheme that defrauded the Postal Service of nearly $4 million.

Teresa Tremusini was convicted in June of two counts of receiving illegal gratuities. She was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in St. Louis.

The owner of SG Print & Mail, an employee of that business and another Postal employee previously entered guilty pleas in the $3.8 million scheme.

Festus postmaster convicted on two felony counts

The postmaster in the eastern Missouri town of Festus has been convicted of two felony counts.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in St. Louis said in a release Monday that Teresa Tremusini, Festus postmaster, has been convicted of two counts of receipt of illegal gratuities.
