Richard Baker, president of Fox Associates since 2001 and a member of the Fox Theatre staff in a variety of capacities since 1986, is leaving to become president and CEO of the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City on March 17.
Earlier this week, Baker sat down for a lengthy interview that looked back on his eventful 27-plus years at the Fox, the evolution of Grand Center during that time, and an unpredictable career path that took a young boy who loved theater and Broadway from dreams of becoming a doctor, to a degree in accounting, and then full circle to the Fox.
The Broadway tour of "Chicago: The Musical" opens tonight at the Fox Theatre for a three-day run starring John O'Hurley as Billy Flynn and Paige Davis as Roxie Hart.
O'Hurley returns to St. Louis after performing in the role of King Arthur in the Muny's production of "Spamalot" in June. He played the role of J. Peterman on "Seinfeld" and was on the first season of "Dancing with the Stars."

The musical features a trio of friends who take a road trip aboard a battered bus throughout the Australian outback. Along the way, the three drag queens from Sydney encounter episodes of discrimination and heartbreak.
Priscilla Queen of the Desert - The Musical opens with “It’s Raining Men” and has other disco favorites, as well as songs such as “Material Girl” and “MacArthur Park.”
WICKED is about the untold story of the witches of Oz.
The musical is based on the 1995 novel written by Gregory Maguire, WICKED: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. While many people know the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz, both stories take place in a world based on L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful World of Oz, written in 1900.
The University of Missouri system wants to increase tuition next year by 7.5 percent at its Columbia campus and even more at its campuses in St. Louis and Rolla.
A proposal released Tuesday afternoon spells out proposed in-state tuition hikes of 8.2 percent at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and 9 percent at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla. The Kansas City campus would see a 3 percent increase.
Similar increases are being sought for graduate programs and non-resident undergraduates.
