Homebound Soldiers To Swell Pre-holiday Rush At Lambert Airport

Lambert-St. Louis International Airport is preparing for a surge in visitors as the busy travel period surrounding Christmas and New Year’s Day begins Friday.

Public Relations Manager Jeff Lea says the airport is expecting a 15 to 20 percent increase from normal passenger traffic at peak travel times over the next two weeks.

“The biggest travel day prior to Christmas for air travel is going to be Friday,” he said.

In addition, he adds that holiday travelers can expect to be flying with a significant number of men and women in uniform as well.

State Highway Patrol Puts More Officers On Roads And In Water For Holiday

The Veterans Memorial Bridge connects Saint Louis County to Saint Charles County and is part of Highway 364. State troopers will be placed every twenty miles on select highways during the July 4th holiday.

  The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be in full effect this Independence Day, with more officers on the road to enforce speed and safety rules. Interstates 44, 55, and 70 will have state troopers stationed every twenty miles on July 3 and July 7.
