MSD board approves settlement on Clean Water violations

The Metropolitan Sewer District has until 2034 to remove 200 of these illegal sewer bypasses under a Clean Water Act lawsuit settlement approved today.

The board of the Metropolitan Sewer District has approved a settlement with the federal government and a local environmental action group over violations of the Clean Water Act.

The state of Missouri was also a party to the 2007 lawsuit, but did not approve the settlement.

Lanes on Interstate 70 will remain closed during evening rush

MoDOT is asking motorists to avoid eastbound I-70 between Shreve and west Florissant as crews repair the road where an MSD sewer line ruptured on Sunday.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is again urging motorists to avoid eastbound Interstate 70 just north of downtown as crews continue emergency repair work on the highway.

MSD board gives preliminary approval to Clean Water lawsuit settlement

MSD crews make repairs along Hampton Ave. in 2010. The agency's Board of Trustees gave its approval last night to a settlement that will require $4.7 billion in infrastructure upgrades over 23 years.

The Board of Trustees for the Metropolitan Sewer District gave its initial approval last night to a multi-billion dollar plan to settle a Clean War Act lawsuit.
