Gingrich in St. Louis to support Todd Akin

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich will be in suburban St. Louis on Monday at a fundraiser and news conference in support of Todd Akin's Senate campaign. The men are scheduled to appear at a $500-per-person, or $750-per-couple, fundraiser. They'll also speak at a late-morning news conference in Kirkwood.

Gingrich's love of animals goes unrequited by Saint Louis Zoo penguin

In the weird and wacky news category today, at least one penguin at the St. Louis Zoo appears to be a feisty opponent of Newt Gingrich - or at least one of his fingers.

The Republican presidential candidate is sporting a small bandage on his finger after getting nipped by a small penguin during his tour of the zoo on Friday. Gingrich was in St. Louis to speak during the National Rifle Association's annual meeting.

Republican presidential contenders to speak at NRA meeting in St. Louis

Thousands of gun enthusiasts will get a chance to hear from three of the four Republican presidential contenders next week when the National Rifle Association hosts its annual meeting and exhibit in St. Louis.

An NRA spokesman says more than 60,000 people have already registered for the convention that runs April 13-15 at the America's Center convention center, but that number is expected to grow with late registrations.

Santorum win presents problems for Republicans according to political scientist

Rick Santorum is the winner of Missouri's presidential primary. The primary was held Tuesday and is non-binding.

Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul were on the ballot, Newt Gingrich was not.

Early this morning, St. Louis Public Radio's Julie Bierach interviewed University of Missouri-St. Louis political science professor Dave Robertson about the results.
