Kristina Van Dyke, Director of the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, recently gave a lecture to the St. Louis Art Museum docents on African art in the museum's collection. A definition of art rolled off her tongue very smoothly and eloquently. She said, "What is art? It is an expression of what it means to be human.

The Progress Of Love At The Pulitzer

The Progress of Love is a collaborative project between the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, the Menil Collection in Houston, and the Centre for Contemporary Art in Lagos, Nigeria.

Host Steve Potter talked with Kristina Van Dyke, the Director of the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts and the curator of the exhibition, as well as British-Nigerian artist Zina Saro-Wiwa.

The exhibition features contemporary art work, including photography and multimedia installations, by African and Western artists.

Host Steve Potter talks with Marjorie Cohn about her book on the art collection of Joseph Pulitzer, Jr.  The book is called Classic Modern: The Art Worlds of Joseph Pulitzer, Jr.  Pulitzer, Jr. carried on the family business in St. Louis but he also built one of the greatest private art collections of the 20th century.
