Teachers Heartbroken As Century-Old St. Elizabeth Academy Prepares To Close

After 130 years, St. Elizabeth Academy, a private Catholic all-girls high school in St. Louis City will close this month.

As St. Louis Public Radio’s Julie Bierach reports, dedicated long-time teachers are in tears, while some alumni are racing against the clock in their pursuit to continue the school’s legacy.

St. Elizabeth Academy Makes 'Heartbreaking' Decision To Close After Over 130 Years

A view of St. Elizabeth Academy in St. Louis. School officials announced today that the school will close at the end of the 2013 school year.

The sponsors of St. Elizabeth Academy have announced "with great sadness" that the school will close at the end of this school year.

St. Elizabeth Academy is a private, Catholic, girls-only preparatory high school in the Tower Grove East neighborhood of St. Louis.
