Realtors Want Role In Ferguson Rebound

Realtors in the St. Louis area say they are fighting a negative perception of the region in the aftermath of last summer’s violence in Ferguson.

Many in the market, especially in North St. Louis County, are concerned about low re-sale value, said St. Louis Association of Realtors President Janet Judd.

“The perception is that values tumbled, plummeted.”

About 200 realtors gathered at the association’s headquarters Friday to examine how the unrest and its aftermath have affected the area’s housing market.

St. Louis' Realty Market Follows National Trend: Home Sales Likely To Flatten In 2014

Following a two-year recovery in the housing market, the National Association of Realtors’ chief economist expects sales to level off.

"Right now there are two opposing forces; higher mortgage rate anticipation, which is always a negative, and more job creation, which is a positive." said Lawrence Yun, "So, I think it will be a more neutral year in terms of home sales."
