Cardinals top Phillies 5-4

Albert Pujols hit a go-ahead single in the seventh to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies last night. John Jay added two RBIs for the Cardinals, who evened the National League division series matchup at one game apiece. St. Louis will send Jamie Garcia to the mound tomorrow in game 3.

Berkman signs with Cardinals for another year

Lance Berkman connects for a three-run homer during a June 23rd blow-out win against the Philadelphia Phillies at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals announced on Thursday that Berkman will return to the team next year.

"Puma" will be back for another season.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that Lance Berkman has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.  The team did not announce any more details, but other reports say the deal is for $12 million. Berkman made $8 million this season.

Cardinals to host Cubs in 2012 home opener

The St. Louis Cardinals have released their 2012 schedule and will host their oldest rival in their 2012 home opener.

The Cardinals said Wednesday their first home game next season will be April 13 against the Chicago Cubs. It will be the latest home opener in St. Louis since the Cardinals opened on April 19, 1991, against Philadelphia.

Interleague games include a home stand June 8-17 against Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City.

Rams fans can expect normal gameday experience on Sunday, despite Sept. 11 anniversary

Fans going to the St. Louis Rams game this weekend will see more police presence, but won't need to go through any additional security screenings.

Fans heading down to the Edward Jones Dome for the Rams home opener this weekend will see more police and security personnel around the stadium.

But Bob Calderon, the Dome's director of public safety, says fans won't have to do anything different.

"They will continue to go through the pat-down process and have the same gameday experience that they would have prior to this particular anniversary," Calderon said.
