Missouri Governor Jay Nixon (D) has sent a letter to Illinois Governor Pat Quinn (D) asking him to join in the effort to name the under-construction Mississippi River Bridge north of downtown St. Louis after Stan Musial. A section of the letter reads:
Funeral arrangements are set for Cardinals great Stan Musial.
A public visitation will be held Thursday at the Cathedral Basilica in the Central West End from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11 a.m., also at the Basilica. New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan is expected to help officiate.
Following the Mass, the funeral procession will travel to Busch Stadium where the family will lay a wreath at the base of the Musial statue. Burial will be private.
On Sunday morning fans gathered at Busch Stadium to remember St. Louis Cardinals legend and Hall of Famer Stan Musial, who died at the age of 92 last night.
Below is audio of what some of them had to say.
