Mo. State Workers To Get Black Friday Off This Year

Governor Jay Nixon (D) has decided to let state employees take the day after Thanksgiving off work this year.


The state’s latest general revenue report show that Missouri collected 7.5 percent more money last month than it did in October of last year, and State Budget Director Linda Luebbering says that’s part of the reason why state workers will get to stay home on November 23rd.

Take it from emergency room doctors, Thanksgiving can be dangerous.

I learned the hard way that plumbers' busiest day comes on Black Friday, when pipes are groaning from too many flushes from Thanksgiving guests and too much garbage shoved down the kitchen sink.

How about hospitals? Yep, the emergency room can be a pretty busy place, too, according to the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Airport officials: travel though Lambert going smoothly so far

On this day before Thanksgiving, a constant, steady flow of passengers are making their way through Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

Airport officials say about 23,000 passengers are going through checkpoints today.

Airport Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge says so far the busy travel day has gone smoothly. She says one reason why is because children under 12 years old do not have to remove their shoes when they go through airport security.
