U.S., State's Attorney Address Public Safety In Metro East

Over the past six decades, the Metro East has gained a nasty reputation for dangerous crime. The news headlines reflect a cycle of poverty and crime made worse by a lack of local resources for adequate governance.

Three government officials charged with tackling these problems joined us to discuss their vision for creating a more positive future for the Metro East: U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen Wigginton; State's Attorney for St. Clair County, Brendan Kelly; and the mayor of Washington Park, Ann Rodgers.

Romney accuses Democrats of using Akin to attack Republican Party

In the run up to his party's nomination for president this week, Republican Mitt Romney is again distancing himself from embattled Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin.

The presumptive Republican Presidential nominee told Fox News on Sunday morning that Democrats are using the uproar over Akin's comments on rape and abortion to attack the rest of the Republican Party.

St. Louis police change procedure in light of uptick in violent crime

Responding to a recent spate of violent crime in some parts of the city that have been thought of as safe, St. Louis police are changing some of their officers' procedures and duties.

Twenty-three-year-old Megan Boken was fatally shot on Saturday in the Central West End,  and several women were robbed at gunpoint near Busch Stadium this week.

Illinois EPA helping Metro East's Washington Park clean up illegal dumping site

The Illinois EPA is helping the Metro East village of Washington Park clean up an illegal dumping site this week.

The area an estimated 100 tons of trash, and the clean-up is expected to take three to five days.
