Last week, St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom confirmed that he was in the running to become the next superintendent of the Chicago Police Department.
But today, that seems to have changed.
The Chicago Police Board says two members of the city's police department and the police chief in Newark, N.J. are the three finalists to become Chicago's next police superintendent.
- Debra Kirby is a deputy superintendent in the department's Bureau of Professional Standards.
- Eugene Williams is the department's chief of patrol.
- The outside candidate is Garry McCarthy. He's a 25-year veteran of the New York City Police Department who's been running the Newark department since 2006.
Not on the list of finalists that Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel has to choose from is Gil Kerikowske, the WhiteHouse drug czar who's said he applied for the job.
Also not on that list of finalists? St. Louis' Isom.
Emanuel can choose a superintendent from the list or request that the search be reopened.
