The brother of a St. Louis police officer has admitted his role in a scheme to divert seized evidence in drug cases for distribution and sale.
Linus R. Davis pleaded guilty on Friday to one felony count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and one felony count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Davis's brother, SLMPD Sgt. Larry Davis, was a supervisor for a special unit that investigated illegal gang activities and illegal drug distribution. Anindictment handed down in January says between Oct. 2012 and January 2012, Sgt. Davis would allegedly visit various package delivery companies and seize packages suspected of containing marijuana. Instead of taking them to police headquarters or laboratory, Sgt. Davis is accused of taking them to a personal residence on Eichelberger. There, the sergeant and his brother would allegedly open the packages and re-sell the drugs.
Linus Davis will be sentenced June 7. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison, and authorities are also seeking the forfeiture of two cars the brothers allegedly used in the scheme. Larry Davis awaits trial. He's been suspended from the SLMPD.
