MoDOT to work on I-64 double-deck for the rest of the year
The Missouri Department of Transportation is warning motorists that major work on the 1-64 double-deck structure in downtown will impact traffic until the end of the year.
MoDOT engineer Deanna Venker says at least one lane will be closed at all times on the structure that leads to and from the Poplar Street Bridge.
"And we will have several weekends over the course of this next year where we'll have full closures of the interstate in one direction or the other," Venker said. "We have about 10 weekend closures planned in the westbound direction and about three in the eastbound direction."
One of those westbound closures starts Friday evening - but Venker says MoDOT will re-open one lane on Saturday to accommodate traffic for the Blues and Cardinals games.
State confirms another mountain lion sighting
State conservation officials are confirming another mountain lion sighting in Missouri.
The Department of Conservation confirmed this week that a trail camera in Grundy County, in north-central Missouri, photographed a mountain lion on April second. It’s the third confirmed sighting this year, and 29th since 1994.
The department says it appears the Missouri mountain lions are young males moving in from western states, and there’s no evidence that the animals are breeding in the state.
Popular Mo. camping site to be closed this season
A popular campground at Missouri’s Table Rock Lake will be closed for the 2012 season so crews can repair extensive damage from last year’s high water.
The US Army Corps of Engineers says for safety reasons, it wants to keep the public out of Old Highway 86 Park, south of Branson, until construction is finished.
The park occupies a peninsula on the White River Arm of the lake, and many of its campsites are at the edge of the water.
Levels on Table Rock Lake were unusually high last year after heavy rain in the White River basin.
