I-64 closures delayed by heat

Planned overnight closures of westbound Interstate 64 through downtown St. Louis will have to wait a few days.

The Missouri Department of Transportation was set to close all the lanes on the double-deck structure between Broadway and 21st St. tonight, and re-open them by 4 a.m. Wednesday. But high temperatures have prevented MoDOT crews from completing work that's needed to allow traffic to drive on newly resurfaced roadways.

MoDOT now plans to close all ramps and lanes on westbound 64 between Broadway and 21st St.Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. Two right lanes will re-open by 4 a.m. Friday morning. The rest of the work will be completed during an already-scheduled closure of the double-deck lanes. All lanes of westbound I-64 from Broadway to 21st will close at 10 a.m. Friday; the two left lanes will re-open by 5 a.m. Monday.

To recap:

  • NO CLOSURES tonight.
  • All lanes and ramps on westbound I-64 from  Broadway to 21st St. will close Thursday night at 8:30 p.m.
  • Two right lanes will reopen by Friday at 4 a.m.
  • All lanes will close again at 10 a.m. on Friday and be closed all weekend. Two left lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
