A man who federal authorities say is a suspect in at least 10 bank robberies over the last three months has been arrested in a small town in Oklahoma, less than 10 miles from the Arkansas border.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation dubbed Michael Eugene Brewster the "Bucket List Bandit" because he allegedly told bank tellers that he had just months to live. He's thought to have robbed banks in Missouri, Illinois, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, where his last robbery allegedly occurred on Sept. 10.
Brewster, 54, from Pensacola Fla., was arrested by police in Roland, Okla. after being pulled over for a routine traffic stop. The FBI says Brewster was driving a vehicle reported stolen in Florida with an allegedly fictitious Utah license plate. He was arrested without incident.
Court records from Escambia County, Fla., where Pensacola is located, show a recent eviction case against a Michael E. Brewster. The case was filed about a month the robbery of a bank in Arvada, Colo. - the first in which Brewster is a suspect.
Brewster had been the subject of a nationwide publicity campaign, and the FBI says that helped with his identification.
