Bridge Work, Races, Mean Weekend Closures In St. Louis City

(via Flickr/Zahlm)

Got plans to travel to downtown St. Louis this weekend? Watch out for lane and road closures.

In addition to lane closures on the Blanchette Bridge, MoDOT will close the two right lanes on westbound I-64 across the Poplar Street Bridge approximately an hour after the start of Game 4 of the NLCS, which would be around 8 p.m. The lanes will remain closed until noon on Sunday.

Two lanes on eastbound I-64 will be open before the game, as will exit ramps from the interstate to 11th and 6th streets.  The ramp from 6th St. to eastbound I-64 will be open for at least one hour after the game to allow Illinois fans to return home.

The 14th St. ramp from eastbound I-64 will remain closed the entire weekend.

On Sunday, the following streets will be  partially or fully closed for the T.A.S.K Rock 'n' Roll races:

  • Tower Grove Ave.
  • Magnolia Ave.
  • Russell Blvd.
  • Market St.
  • Forest Park Ave.
  • Truman Parkway/18th St.
  • Exits 39A and 39B from I-64
  • Grand Blvd.

Most of the closures start around 6 a.m., with most roads open again by 3 p.m. A complete list of street closures is available here, and a list of alternate routes suggested by the marathon sponsors is here

The city is asking fans traveling to the Edward Jones Dome for the noon game between the Rams and the Green Bay Packers to build in extra travel time. NO northbound travel will be allowed on Jefferson Ave., so drivers are being asked to use exits on I-64 closer to downtown, or take I-70 as an alternate. Most of the roads in the immediate vicinity of the Dome will be open by 8:30 a.m.
