Meet Your Newscast Producer, Stephanie Lecci

St. Louis Public Radio’s reporters and producers spend hours in the field, behind a keyboard, or on a microphone to deliver the news that matters to you, however you receive it best. But sometimes, you’d still like to put a face to those names.

Meet Stephanie Lecci, a newscast producer for STLPR. A native of New York, Stephanie has been in St. Louis since August of 2014. Within two weeks of her arrival, Stephanie was called upon to report around the clock on the events in Ferguson as the world turned its eyes to the region. Since then, she’s been contributing on a number of fronts, including sitting in for Wayne Pratt and Joseph Leahy during morning or afternoon broadcasts, and even filling in for Don Marsh on “St. Louis On the Air.”

We asked her a series of rapid-fire questions so you can get to know your newscast producer better:

St. Louis Public Radio: What’s the one thing you can’t work without?

Stephanie Lecci: Literally, my personal pair of Denon headphones.

STLPR: What’s your favorite lunch spot in the office?

SL: Definitely the second floor patio.

STLPR: Favorite NPR reporter?

SL: Tamara Keith and the Code Switch team.

STLPR: Favorite holiday?

SL: Thanksgiving!

STLPR: Favorite pastime?

SL: Reading, running, spoiling my dog, a one-eyed, elderly, spoiled, slightly pudgy dachshund named Tina “the Weinah”BeanaLecci, Esq. (NOTE: Tina is not actually a licensed attorney-at-law. She just plays one on the TV…that plays in her own mind.)

STLPR: Favorite sports team?

SL: New York Mets. (OTHER NOTE: We’re sorry, Cardinals fans.)

Favorite STLPR story/feature/article? What’s YOUR Driveway Moment?

SL: Every We Live Here podcast. Also, Willis’ beautiful feature on medical students honoring their first patients – I went to tell him how good it was but I had trouble talking because I was crying so much.

STLPR: How do you take your coffee?

SL: Nonexistent. I’m a no-coffee kind of gal.

STLPR: Do you play a musical instrument(s)?

SL: Yes, French horn.

STLPR: Hardest you’ve ever laughed at STLPR?

SL: When the newsroom staff went into a detailed comparison of the nutritional values of regular versus whole wheat Cheez-Its.

STLPR: Thanks for letting us get to know you better, Stephanie!

SL: No problem!
