Meet Your Major Gifts Officer, Mary Bosnick

Every dollar you donate to St. Louis Public Radio is important, and our dedicated staff is on hand to make sure that your dollar goes further, does more, and makes you feel better about your community.

One of those staff members is Mary Bosnick, your major gifts officer. Mary assists our major gifts director and coordinates with all of our Cornerstone Society members to make sure their various donations are processed effectively.

We chatted with Mary about her favorite parts of the job, what her favorite programs are, and what she loves about the Cornerstone Society

STLPR: How long have you been at STLPR?
MB:  Six years this past August. My love for STLPR runs so deep that on my second date with my now-husband, he took a moment to call into the pledge drive to become a member. He knew it was really important to me!

STLPR: That's great! What’s your favorite program?
MB: My day must start with Morning Edition. The combination of world-wide coverage, great personalities and that classic, measured NPR tone is the perfect way to begin the day informed. On the weekends I try not to miss the Ted Radio Hour or The Moth. Finally, I have long felt Lynne Rossetto Kasper and I would be great friends. I love The Splendid Table and her books!

STLPR: What is your role as Major Gifts Officer?
MB: I work with our Cornerstone Society and Legacy Society members. Day-to-day I work on gift solicitation and stewardship for these very special donors. St. Louis Public Radio donors are the best around; they are intellectually curious, involved in the community, and passionate about quality journalism. I am incredibly lucky to work with them.

STLPR: Sounds like a pretty active group; what's your favorite event so far?
MB: It’s hard to choose! I am always particularly proud to be involved with Talk Toast Taste, St. Louis Public Radio’s annual dinner. Each year I look around the room to observe the love that so many people have for the work that we do and their commitment to helping us do it better. It’s a special night.  I also look forward to any live broadcasts. We have Ira Flatow and Science Friday coming to The Sheldon October 25 for a live taping.

STLPR: What exactly is the Cornerstone Society and how can people get involved?
The Cornerstone Society is St. Louis Public Radio’s major giving club. Membership begins at donations of $1,200 per year (or $100/month).  These members, and really all members of St. Louis Public Radio, keep us growing and thriving. Members can join at www.stlpublicradio.org/cornerstone, or by calling me at 314-516-7482.
