Kevin Kline Award nominations released

This article first appeared in the St. Louis Beacon, Jan. 24, 2011 - The Muny, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and Stages St. Louis have received the greatest number of nominations for the 2010 Kevin Kline Awards.

In this sixth annual competition, the Muny leads with 21 nominations, followed by The Rep with 17 and Stages with 15. Stages' production of "Promises, Promises" received seven nominations, more than any other musical. The Rep's "High" starring Kathleen received eight, topping the list for non-musicals.

Thirty local theater companies; 58 actors, directors, choreographers, playwrights, composers and designers; and 13 acting ensembles were nominated for productions held last year.

The awards ceremony will take place Monday, March 28 at the Loretto-Hilton Center in Webster Groves. Information about tickets and more about the event will soon be posted at www.kevinklineawards.org.
