"The Awakening," a sculpture by J. Seward Johnson, in Chesterfield, Mo. Chesterfield has been designated "No. 2" on Missouri Life magazine's "Top Ten Towns" in Missouri list.

Chesterfield has been named among the top-ten towns in the state by Missouri Life magazine.

Joplin was listed as the number one town, and was closely followed by Chesterfield, which ranked second.

Several neighboring towns joined the list including:  Kirkwood No. 5, Clayton No. 7 and Creve Coeur No. 8.

When ranking each town, Missouri Life magazine used a two-round ranking system. Within the first round, the magazine looked at students’ performance on the Missouri Assessment Program, academic achievement awards given to schools, unemployment rates and crime rates.

The second round compared the number of entertainment facilities ie: parks, movie theaters, bookstores and restaurants in each town, and also compared the median household income and air quality.
