UMSL Presents International Poster Art Exhibition

Posters are designed to be functional, usually to get a message out quickly. This often means they are here today and gone tomorrow. But an exhibit currently on display at the University of Missouri - St. Louis gives a little more longevity and exposure to the art form by displaying 100 posters by graphic designers from 40 countries.

Albert Inyoung Choi is the founder of the United Designs International Biennial Design Exhibition. A professor of graphic and package design at Hanyang University in South Korea, Choi said the idea for the exhibition came out of a dream to connect with designers from around the world.

This year's exhibition focuses on environmental awareness. Choi said it represents the second level of designing. The first level is commercial, but the second is more about the art and the message.

"What we're doing is an environmental issue, no clients involved, using their talents to express their concerns," said Choi.
