The annual Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival returns a little earlier than usual, but with an all-star lineup.

Saxophonist Lou Marini, known for high-profile groups like the Saturday Night Live Band, The Blues Brothers, and Blood Sweat and Tears, will perform with a combo Friday night. Multiple Grammy-nominated jazz composer and trombonist Steve Weist and trumpeter Clay Jenkins also will perform on Friday.

The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, with brothers Jeff and John Clayton and Jeff Hamilton, will perform Saturday. The UMSL Jazz Ensemble, directed by Jim Widner, will perform both nights.

On Friday, “Cityscape” host Steve Potter talked to Marini and Widner about the festival and about Marini's career.
