Environmental Racism in St. Louis Report: What's Next?

Environmental Racism in St. Louis Report: What's Next?

Please join us March 8 at 7pm via Zoom when speakers from various foundational organizations gather to discuss the origins of the report on Environmental Racism in St Louis, and the community support, challenges, and actionable steps to be taken. Speakers will include Karisa Gilman Hernandez, a community organizer for Dutchtown South Community Corporation; Ashton Kuehnel, grassroots organizer for the Missouri Chapter of Sierra Club; and Katherine Fenerson, a civic engagement organizer. Quoting Hop Hopkins’ story in the June 8, 2020 edition of Sierra magazine, “an idea—a long-overdue realization—is growing in the environmental movement…We’ll never stop climate change without ending white supremacy… Here’s why: You can’t have climate change without sacrifice zones, and you can’t have sacrifice zones without disposable people, and you can’t have disposable people without racism.” Discover insights on this idea and more! Register at https://franciscansisters-olph.org/events/. Upon registration, you will receive an email response that contains a Zoom link. Please save and flag/star this email so you can find that link to log in on the evening of March 8th at 6:45 pm (the presentation begins at 7, but we ask everyone to log in at 6:45 in case there are difficulties). Reminders will be sent one day and one hour before the event that will also contain the link.
