STLxSTC & Amy Firestone Rosen

July 1 – September 23, 2022

The Foundry Art Centre is pleased to announce the opening of Rethinking the Party Dress by Amy Firestone Rosen and STLxSTC, a group exhibition of acclaimed area fashion designers.

Firestone Rosen creates large-scale prints that incorporate artifacts of our time, the Party Dress. Her work addresses themes of fantasy of women and fashion. Creating prints from upcycled garments, Firestone Rosen hunts for dresses at thrift shops, searching for intriguing textural patterns found in garments that will translate into strong figurative images.

STLxSTC includes the fashion designs of celebrated area fashion designers Michael Drummond, AJ Thouvenot, SSTEW3, Adjo Honsou-Piper, Mary Crogier, and Seals Brock. While the Midwest is not often thought of as a bastion of high-end fashion, many designers known in the fashion world originate from the region. AJ Thouvenot and Michael Drummond have been contestants on Project Runway; Mary Crogier’s creations, under the moniker Vauje, have adorned the heads of many celebrities including Arianne Grande, Angela Bassett, Ricky Martin, Paris Hilton, and more; while SSTEW3, Adjo Honsou-Piper, and Seals Brock have graced international publications and have brought attention to the region with their artistry.

An opening reception for both exhibitions will be held on Friday, July 1, 5-8pm. Live music by Luke Lanzon, free fashion-related art activities for all ages, a cash bar, and more will be available during the reception.
