Illinoisans Can Get Help Paying A/C Bills
Chicago, ILL. – Illinoisans who need help paying cooling bills can start applying Monday for assistance from the state.
The federal government is sending Illinois $7.5 million in emergency money to help people keep their homes cool this summer.
The state expects about 45,000 households to get some aid. The money is available to the elderly, people with children younger than two, or those households with a member that has a disability or medical condition.
The money is from the state's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and is operated through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
