Washington – The office of U.S. Senator Kit Bond says communications director Ernie Blazar has been fired after it was discovered he'd been running an inappropriate political Web site.

The site was named for the tail number of the crashed plane of the late Democratic Missouri governor Mel Carnahan.

In a pre-recorded statement, Bond said what the senior staffer did was totally unacceptable.

"There will be no place in my office, or in my campaign, for this type of attack," Bond said. "The person responsible will no longer be a member of my staff. In addition, we will continue to strictly enforce our office policy that no political activities will utilize government equipment or facilities."

Bond said he had no knowledge of the "N8354N" Web site until last Wednesday night. And the senior GOP senator apologized to all who were offended.
