The Monsanto campus in Creve Coeur (Monsanto photo)

By AP/KWMU

Creve Coeur, MO – Thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the Monsanto campus in Creve Coeur Wednesday morning.

Crews working on a new water line above utility tunnels cut a pipe that caused sparks to fall on some plywood and catch fire.

No one was hurt, but the fire did knock power out for a time at Monsanto.

The fire eventually burned itself out.
