St. Louis, MO – The Saint Louis University Billikens were invited Thursday to leave Conference USA and join the Atlantic Ten Conference.
The school has not said whether it will go, but joining the "A-10" would mean playing against schools including U-Mass, Temple, and Xavier.
The 12-school A-10 also extended an invitation Thursday to North Carolina-Charlotte.
Billikens' athletics director Doug Woolard says the school is excited to be considered for the conference's expansion. But he says the school will defer further comment until after it makes a decision.
The A-Ten already includes Dayton, Duquesne, Fordham, George Washington, LaSalle, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, St. Joseph's, Temple and Xavier.
Earlier this week, five Conference USA schools accepted invitations to join the Big East. To fill those voids, Conference U-S-A brought in Central Florida, Marshall, Rice, Southern Methodist and Tulsa.
