Jefferson City, MO – Officials with Missouri's prescription drug program for seniors blame a contractor for problems detailed in a recent critical audit.
The Senior RX program helps cover prescription drugs for older Missourians who can't afford private health care but who don't qualify for Medicaid, either.
A state audit released last week said only about 20% of eligible seniors are enrolled.
But Senior RX's director said Monday an Atlanta-based company sent enrollment forms to the wrong places and in an untimely way.
So, the state is giving seniors more time to enroll, until July 30th.
The audit also says the state and participants are overcharging for some drugs.
