St. Louis, MO –

Friday is the 200th anniversary of the day a few dozen men started up the Missouri River to explore what had just become the newest part of the United States.

The "Corps of Discovery" - as it was called - made it to the Pacific Ocean under the leadership of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark.

Now, national celebration to mark that journey is focused more on education than discovery. And a number of people are putting their lives on hold for up to three years to help teach us just what Lewis and Clark found.
