Kerry Campaign Stops in Kansas City

By AP/KWMU

Kansas City – Presidential nominee John Kerry brought his campaign train to Kansas City Friday.

The democrat says he wants to increase American energy production and reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil.

Kerry is proposing a $20 billion fund to finance research and development of alternative and renewable fuels.

He says the fund would promote energy sources like natural gas, coal, nuclear and renewable energy generated from corn, soybeans and other crops.

Kerry and running mate John Edwards visited a family farm near the plant that's producing the first hybrid SUV.
