Springfield, Ill. – There will be a funeral this morning for the guard who was shot in the Illinois Capitol building this week.

Bill Wozniak was unarmed when shot just inside the building's entrance. The funeral will take place in Wozniak's hometown of Petersburg, Ill., near Springfield.

Meanwhile, the mother of the man charged with the shooting says her son hears voices and has been in and out of mental institutions.

Jane Potts told the Chicago Tribune that her son Derek has schizophrenia. She also says her son had been on medication in the past but it didn't always work.

A portable metal detector was installed this week outside the governor's office in Chicago. But officials aren't sure when they will be in place in the Capitol in Springfield.
