Medical Examiner Rules Out Abuse As Cause of Death

By AP / KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Dr. Case says the 33-year-old man, George Holmes, became agitated and his heart stopped.

She says he had scrapes and bruises
but an autopsy could not determine when he got them. She tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch he did not die from abuse.

Holmes' relatives allege he told them he had been beaten by staff at the Bellefontaine Habilitation Center, a resident care facility in suburban St. Louis.

Parents of other residents also alleged abuse, prompting officials to investigate and make some changes at the center.
