Judge Likely to be Removed from Courthouse Shooting Case

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – A new judge likely will be named for the re-trial of a man who went on a 1992 shooting rampage inside the St. Louis County courthouse.

State Supreme Court justices expressed their disapproval yesterday over a St. Louis County judge's attempt to stay on Kenneth Baumruk's murder case.

The high court previously ordered a new trial because Baumruk was originally convicted in the same courthouse where the shootings happened.

The trial was moved to St. Charles County but Judge Mark Seigel didn't remove himself from the case.

A formal decision on Seigal's status as presiding judge will come later, but Supreme Court Justice Stephen Limbaugh said Tuesday Siegel should have made both changes. Other members of the high court echoed his assertion.
