Pope Recalls St. Louis Trip with Burke
St. Louis, MO – Pope John Paul the Second spoke fondly of his 1999 trip to St. Louis this week when he met with Archbishop Raymond Burke in Rome.
Burke was there with other bishops from Midwestern archdioceses.
He says political issues did not come up.
Burke also did not speak with the Pope about St. Stanislaus, a historic Polish parish that controls its own finances, which Burke says is illegal.
Instead, Burke told the Post-Dispatch that the pope was interested in pastoral planning, the Catholic schools and vocations to the priesthood.
