Ballwin, MO – The Ballwin Board of Alderman approved a smoking ban for public places on Monday night.
Most restaurants or businesses have to go smoke free within two months. As part of a compromise, bars and restaurants that were able to serve alcohol before December 1 will have a year to comply.
A similar bill was defeated in September.
Bar and restaurant owners have said a ban on smoking would ruin their businesses because customers could go to establishments in nearby cities that allow smoking.
