Jefferson City, MO – The budget Missouri Governor Matt Blunt sent to lawmakers last week includes an extra $200,000 for Amtrak service between Kansas City and St. Louis.
That would bring Amtrak funding from Jefferson City to $6.4 million.
But fellow Republicans have questioned such spending given the state's financial woes. The governor's interim budget director acknowledges many lawmakers don't approve, but he adds many Republicans also have Amtrak trains running through their districts.
