Baby Elephant Should be Female, Zoo Says

St. Louis, MO – Blood tests suggest Raja the elephant's first offspring will be a girl.

That's the word from the St. Louis Zoo, where Si the elephant is about seven months from having Raja's first baby.

But officials add there's no way to know the gender for sure until the little 250-pound tyke is born.

Si, the 24-year-old, 7,000-pound mom-to-be is being pampered by the zoo's staff in her 15th month of pregnancy (elephants' gestation usually runs around 22 months).
