Fewer fatal crashes in Missouri involving young drivers

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – Fewer young drivers are getting into fatal car crashes in Missouri.

The Highway Patrol says 216 crashes last year involved drivers younger than 21. That's the fewest in since 2001, when the state switched to a tiered system for issuing permits and licenses.

Still, the patrol points out nearly one in every four crashes in Missouri last year involved an under-21 driver.
