Sales tax holiday starts today in Missouri

By Tom Weber, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – People in Missouri can save a few bucks when buying a number of items this weekend.

A sales tax holiday starts today and runs through Sunday.

People won't have to pay the state sales tax on back-to-school items, though the items don't actually have to be used at school. Everyone gets the tax break on clothes, computers, computer software, and school supplies.

There are limits, though. Computers are only tax-free for the first $3,500.

And while the state sales tax of 4.225% is gone for the weekend, some people might still have to pay a local sales tax, depending on where they buy the items.
