FORT BRAGG, N.C. – A soldier from St. Louis died this week in Afghanistan. Christoper Katzenberger, 25, was in a convoy in eastern Afghanistan when a bomb exploded near his Humvee.
Michael Katzenberger says his son drifted between jobs after high school and surprised his family by enlisting.
The death comes less than a month after LaVena Johnson, of Florissant, died in Iraq.
Katzenberger died Tuesday in the Afghan city of Bagram. He was assigned to the Second Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
The soldier is survived by his parents and a sister, all in St. Louis.
