St. Louis, MO – A well-known developer in St. Louis is considering turning an old Schnuck's store in the Central West End into a mall.

Michael Roberts says he believes the corner of Delmar and Kingshighway is a strong candidate for another Galleria or Plaza Frontenac-like shopping center.

He says the current building there is still empty because his brother Steve and he are mulling whether to tear it down, buy more land nearby, and build something new.

"Wouldn't it be nice if you could drive there and you could find a nice theater and a variety of shopping stores?" Roberts asked on Thursday's St. Louis on the Air on KWMU.

"And we'd build for St. Louis in the center and core of St. Loius an impressive, large shopping complex that people from West County would drive to the city, versus us driving to West County."

Roberts has no timeline for when such a project might happen. A Schnuck's store used to be there and Roberts says there has also been talk of possibly building a Wal-Mart at the location.
