Washington, D.C. – Missouri got bad news from the federal base-closing commission Thursday.
The panel voted to close the Army Human Resources Command in Overland. It means the loss of 1,100 jobs. The plan calls for closing the Overland plant and consolidating the work in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Some workers say they'll make the move. Others say they want to stay, but don't look forward to finding a new job.
Earlier in the day, the BRAC Commission also voted to close Defense Finance and Accounting Service offices in St. Louis and Kansas City, where about 900 people work.
The commission voted to close the Army National Guard Reserve Center at Jefferson Barracks Wednesday.
A vote on the fate of the 131st Fighter Wing at Lambert Airport is expected Friday.
