Jefferson City, MO – Missouri Supreme Court Judge Stephen Limbaugh, Jr. is hospitalized in Cape Girardeau with a pulmonary embolism, a blocked artery in the lung.

Court spokeswoman Beth Riggert says the 53-year-old Limbaugh is expected back at work in a week or so.

Limbaugh was absent this week as the rest of the seven-member Supreme Court heard arguments on a number of cases.

He checked himself into the hospital. Riggert says the pulmonary embolism requires Limbaugh to remain still. But she adds that the judge has remained in contact with the court several times a day.
