St. Louis conference addresses issues of race, privilege

St. Louis, MO – A group of academics and activists says Americans of European ancestry enjoy a status in society that people of color do not. And centuries-old issues of race and class need to be addressed before the nation can truly move forward.
That's the theme of the "White Privilege Conference" being held this week at UM-St. Louis. Conference director Eddie Moore Junior says it's not about picking on white people or promoting black victimhood.
But Moore told KWMU's Matt Sepic the legacy of slavery still exists today in ways most people do not realize.
