Edwardsville, Ill. – Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville is no longer accepting freshman for this fall's semester.

Admissions officials say more than 6,000 people applied for 1,800 spots, and they accepted 1,850.

Terri Montgomery, with the school's admissions office, says the cap is needed to keep the school's student-to-faculty ratio at 17:1. She said it also helps to make sure that students get into the classes that they need to graduate.
